My family is about to move to Parris Island from Camp Pendleton in a couple weeks. We are planning to live in either Wake Village or Weapons Sound. I'd like to know which housing is better. My husband is E-6 and we have 3 kids. I have 2 kids in school, one in 2nd grade and another in kindergarten. Which elementary is better Galer or Elliot? And which school would the kids be going to? Thanks in advance. 

Don't be surprised if you don't get a house on PI...we live on Laurel Bay and it's not your choice on what school...it all depends on your house location. Hopefully you luck out and get a house on PI! We thought we would either live in Weapon Sound or Wake Village and nothing was available. my husband is a DI...and no one in his graduating class that we knew got a house on PI. 

If they have already told you that you have a home and gave you an address for PI, congrats! Housing is really messed up down here. If you go in and apply for PI and nothing is available, they will place you in Laurel Bay or Naval Hospital housing, seeing as there's no waiting list. If they tell you there's one, they're lying to you! Just wanted to point that out b/c they have screwed a lot of people over by saying that. Not that Laurel Bay housing is bad. They even have some newer townhomes in there located in Freedom Sound(we used live in those). Good luck, and I hope you enjoy your time in Beaufort! I can't help with schools b/c I really don't know, it all depends on where you live since there's a few of them.

i believe that galer is pre k thru 2nd grade and elliot is 3rd grade thru fifth? im not really sure but my son goes to galer and they r pretty nice..just make sure u do not get mrs simons for kindergarten!! mrs satterfield is the best but she is retiring this year:( as for housing on PI, there are 2 homes that will be avail soon next to where i live in wake village. the families r leaving so it may be 30 days or more, if they havent assigned them to someone else as yet..good luck! 

elliot is prek thru 2nd also....bolden is 3rd thru 8th...It depends on your address what school your child attends. Just keep bugging them about PI housing...I hope you get one! 

Thanks for the info. I didn't know a lot about the housing situation. Its a little shocking but oh well so goes military life. I think I said we would be moving down there in a couple weeks but its really not until the beginning of April. So I mis-typed. So hopefully there will be housing on PI available by then.
