Hi Beaufort ladies, :) We are currently at cherry point but have orders to beaufort in january. As far as we know, we are getting a 3 bedroom 1 and half baths in Laurel Bay. I HATE not knowing what to expect and I dont know what to ask for since I'm not familiar with the housing down there. I do know though that every base housing has their "ghetto" area, lol ;) and I don't want to be in Beaufort's! Can anyone tell me about the housing down there and what areas are best and which to stay away from? Thanks so much! :) 

Have you tried looking at the website? The home you described is in Laurel Bay. They are older homes with all brick. I have several friends who live there, and some of the homes aren't that bad. A lot of them have been refurbished. The good thing about those homes is that you have your own yard, and you're not connected to anyone. They have different models, so some actually do have a pretty good layout. I've seen nice, and I've seen disgusting. Check out the website! They aren't that bad, I promise. It could've been worse, you could've gotten Naval Hospital housing :) 

We just moved from Lejeune into Laurel Bay....we love it...we have a 3bd 2bath...that was completely redone on the inside....bathrooms,kitchen, floors,etc. The neighborhood sorta reminds you of Berkely Manor. Pm me if you have questions...I will go check ou the house it you want! lol 

Also, the people who have the 3 bedroom, 1.5 baths, are getting some of their BAH back. I believe it's 200.00 or a little more. So, that's a huge plus! 

Yep they are going for $900 for rent not your full bah. 

Thanks ladies! :) Yeah, we tried looking at the website and it doesn't show the model we are supossed to be moving into hubby said. I heard about the 900 bah and you're right, extra money is awesome, but your are paying less because you have less space and we are not looking for a place where we will be crammed into. ;) They give us the address 2 weeks before we leave, so maybe I'll ask if you guys know the area? Oh well, I guess if we get down there and it's gross we'll just turn it down. . . . .:) 

We chose the 3 br 1.5 ba option in Laurel Bay (the rent is 900/mo so we get 517 back (hubs is a E-6). We have 3 kids but since I have to finish my RN out here, having the extra cash will cover for daycare. The offer is for a 6 month period so we are unsure if we will still get that in 6 months. It isn't bad. We came from Camp Pendleton where we were attached to our neighbors, so it is nice to be somewhat seperated. 

Well ladies, we have our address in Laurel Bay! We will be moving down there mid next week. I hope the house is nice! I know a girl who moved down in november, and she posted pics of her house so i could see, and the kitchen looks like something right out of the 70's! The kitchen cabinets, closet doors and such r that ugly medium brown color and looks like that cheap stuff. I thought all of Laurel bay was supossed to be renevated?
